About Schatz Construction & Restoration

We build the homes people dream about because we actually care how they turn out.

How This Started

I've been doing construction for 25 years. Most of that time, I watched homeowners get frustrated because contractors treated their projects like another job on a Tuesday. A quick estimate, a schedule that slipped, callbacks that took weeks. Nobody was really collaborating. Nobody seemed to understand that a home renovation is deeply personal.

That gap bothered me enough to start Schatz Construction & Restoration 13 years ago. I wanted to work with people who actually wanted a partner, not just a contractor. Early on, I made mistakes—took on too much, didn't communicate clearly, said yes to things that didn't fit our values. But I learned fast that the best projects happen when you listen first, plan together, and then execute with care.

Over a decade of residential and light commercial work, I've built a team that feels the same way. We're locally owned, and we stay that way because we're invested in the people we work with and the neighborhoods we're in. Every project is someone's vision. We treat it like it's ours too.

'I started this company because I enjoy construction and I wanted to help as many people as possible bring their dream homes to life. That mission hasn't changed.'

What 25 Years Taught Us

Accountability matters more than excuses. We've seen too many contractors blame suppliers, blame the schedule, blame the homeowner. Early on, when we ran into a framing issue on a renovation, I had to decide whether to explain why it happened or how we'd fix it. We own every decision and every problem. Clients notice. They return because they know where they stand.

Craftsmanship is respect made physical. We take time to get details right because sloppy work says 'your home doesn't matter to me.' When we finish trim or lay tile, we're saying the opposite. That takes longer and costs more. It's worth it because it lasts.

Integrity means transparency even when it's uncomfortable. We tell clients what things will cost, what we don't know yet, and when we need to adjust. No surprises at the end. That trust is the foundation of every job we do well.

These aren't slogans. They're habits we've earned through real projects, real relationships, and real mistakes we've learned from.

What It's Like Working With Us

Day-to-day, you'll notice we show up on time and leave the site cleaner than we found it. You'll see the same faces, not a rotating crew of unfamiliar people. Your calls get returned the same day. When we see a problem, we bring it to you early with options, not excuses.

We work as a team—with you and with each other. You're not handing off your project to an unknown process. You're collaborating with people who take pride in what they build and who see your vision as worth protecting. That's what locally owned and operated actually means to us.

If you're thinking about a renovation or construction project and want to work with a team that's been around long enough to know what matters, we'd like to talk. Call us or request a consultation. Let's see if we're a good fit for your home and your vision.
